Welcome

We’re a research team using interactions with the supernatural to explore the emotional experiences and interior lives of ordinary people between 1300 and 1900. Using a range of methodologies and source types within three discrete but related research projects – spanning medieval to modern, and household to cosmos – we’re working on books and articles, events and exhibitions, and are crowdsourcing the location of concealed objects and witchcraft memorials via interactive maps. We also maintain an active blogTwitter feed, and YouTube channel. A collaboration between historians from the University of East Anglia, University College London, and the University of Hertfordshire, we’re funded by The Leverhulme Trust from October 2015 to October 2018.
